why we do it

We do it because...

CYS builds community.

Since the fall of 2014, CYS programs have brought nearly 10,000 students together, across dozens of Chicago area neighborhoods and schools.

CYS builds confidence.

100% of CYS Ensemble and Summer Shakes students graduate high school, and 99% have gone on to attend college. To learn more about the positive impact of Shakespeare on student learning and development, visit:
The Bard & the Brain

CYS changes lives.

100% of student participants surveyed said that CYS made a positive impact on their lives.
But don't just take our word for it. Read what our students, their parents, and our audience members have to say.
