CYS presents KING LEAR

A ONE-NIGHT-ONLY staged reading
directed by Louis Fantasia
Thank you to ALL the alums who courageously threw their hats in the ring for LEAR!

Here's what it's all about:

ONE TABLE READ, ONE REHEARSAL, ONE PERFORMANCE

WHY THIS PLAY RIGHT NOW?
First off, KING LEAR is considered by many to be the greatest play in the English language. So it's always the right time for that!

Secondly, some may argue that there has never been a better time to do a play about an old white guy who abuses his "absolute" power and loses touch with reality than at this particular moment in history. ('Nough said.)

Third, CYS would love to meet one of Shakespeares’s greatest works with a cast of talented and trained youth and professionals that can make it come to life in a way no one else can.  So, we've invited some of Chicago’s most EPIC Shakespeare actors to read the older roles, (e.g., Lear, Kent, Gloucester, the Fool, and maybe a couple of others); and we're inviting our amazing CYSE alumni (that's YOU!) to play the remaining (younger) roles (e.g., the daughters, husbands, sons - legitimate and otherwise, servants, gentlemen, etc... )

And finally, we wanted to provide a truly EPIC opportunity for our CYSE alums to work alongside some seriously EPIC professional actors under the guidance of a world-class Shakespeare director, the one and only, Louis Fantasia!
