Cameron
Alumna of: As You Like It, Julius Caesar, Comedy of Errors, (as an actor); Much Ado About Nothing and The Tempest (as an intern)
Currently at: University of Iowa, Class of 2020
Studying: BA in Theatre Arts
Q. What field are you in/planning to go into? Why did you choose this path?
Olivia:  I plan to go into stage management. My freshman year of college I stage-managed a small scale burlesque show and I fell in love with it.
Cameron: Playwriting and/or Law. I wanted to write stories to be told on stage. I also believe that I would be a good lawyer and the practice of law needs people with strong moral characters.
What did you take from your time with CYS that has helped you in your work?
Olivia: Manon, Jeremy, and the CYS team led a room that fostered curiosity, hard work, and a love of Shakespeare. The joy and work ethic that was sparked in that rehearsal room stays with me now.
Cameron: I learned a lot about forming a community through the arts and coming together with people from diverse backgrounds.
What was the most important thing to you in your CYS experience?
Olivia: The power and agency that was entrusted in the students.
Cameron: Feeling that the ensemble was a group of people I could call a family.

What would you want current CYS students to know now that you did not?
Olivia: Love the process!
Cameron: That CYS is a place where everyone is welcome and no one will be turned away due to who they are.
