where are they now, Round Five: catching up with Samuela & Nina

1/5/2020

Picture
Samuela
Alumna of: Macbeth, As You Like It
Graduated from: Boston College, Class of 2018
Studied: BA in Theatre Arts
Currently: Lives in Burbank CA, and works at CBS
Picture
Nina
Alumna of: Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream
Currently at: Northwestern University, Class of 2022
Studying: Theatre and Psychology
What field are you in/planning to go into? Why did you choose this path?
Samuela: I originally was going into Theatre and then I switched to Television when I graduated. I chose TV in the end because I want to create television shows. I’m currently working at CBS in their Page Program.
Nina: I'm not sure where I'm headed just yet, but I've become increasingly interested in psychology and could see myself pursuing clinical psychology alongside theater.
What did you take from your time with CYS that has helped you in your work?
Samuela: CYS helped with my confidence, made me a better team player, and I got an amazing family from it.
Nina: I took away so much from CYS - everything from how to train hard and fail big to the importance working with different kinds of people.
What was the most important thing to you in your CYS experience?
Samuela: Talks with Manon about everything and anything.
Nina: Theater (and especially Shakespeare) is just humanity put beautifully and tragically.
What would you want current CYS students to know now that you did not?
Samuela: It’s ok to not know everything. Enjoy yourself, learn as much as you can, and your path will come to you when the time is right.
Nina: Push yourself to fail big. Bigger than you want. Messier than you'd like. That's where the magic is.
